A Year of Words, A Lifetime of Gratitude

The Minneapolis Times started from a short conversation about the need for a moderate news source in Minneapolis. When we started, we had no idea if anyone would read it, much less care so much about it.  It has been one year and now we have over 35,000 subscribers, and 35,000 people on Facebook. We have done no advertising, but more people subscribe every day just through word of mouth.

As we mark our first anniversary, we wanted to say something simple but deeply felt: thank you. Thank you for reading and thank you for caring about our community.

To our readers – you are the reason we do this. We know your time is precious. It is a gift you spend a little of it with us. Thank you for coming day after day when many thought local news was a thing of the past. Your feedback, story tips, kind notes, and even your critiques have helped us grow into something better than we imagined. For that, we’re endlessly grateful.

And to our writers – your voices have built this paper. Your curiosity, integrity, and pursuit of truth have made Minneapolis Times a trusted thread in the fabric of our community. You’ve shown that local journalism is alive and well.  Thank you.

Know that we are all volunteers – we have no donate button, no advertising, and no one is getting paid. This is a true grassroots effort. All we have is the passion to educate our fellow residents. If you have ever thought of adding your voice, please help us make our city better. Don’t hide your light. There are so many stories to tell and so much expertise to share.

As we head into year two, we’re more committed than ever to telling the stories that matter. We know we’re not perfect — but we promise to keep showing up, learning, listening, and growing.

We are looking forward to the upcoming year.
