Exhausted National Geographic Society Tasked With Redrawing Global Maps Every Time AOC Speaks

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Tensions reached a breaking point Thursday at the National Geographic Society’s headquarters, where a “Rapid Response Cartography” unit has reportedly been working 20-hour shifts to physically relocate nations, oceans, and invisible navigational lines to match the latest public statements of Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

The society, which for 138 years relied on the slow, methodical study of tectonic plates and satellite telemetry, has reportedly abandoned the scientific method in favor of “Political Vibe-Based Mapping.” The shift follows a recent podcast appearance in which the Congresswoman asserted that Venezuela—a nation firmly situated in the Northern Hemisphere—is actually located “below the equator.”

“We had a perfectly good 2026 World Atlas ready for the printers, and then she went on a livestream,” said a visibly trembling lead cartographer, who requested anonymity to avoid being “ratioed” by the Earth’s gravitational pull. “Now, I’ve got four guys in the basement with giant erasers trying to drag Caracas across the Amazon Basin while the ink is still wet. We’ve moved the Equator so many times this week it’s starting to look like a game of jump rope.”

The Society’s “Fact-Harmonization Team” explained that correcting the Congresswoman is no longer a viable institutional strategy, as it is mathematically easier to change the physical location of a continent than to survive the ensuing 48 hours of social media discourse.

Reactions From the Cartography War Room

Staff appeared haggard as they gathered in the breakroom of the National Geographic Society, where morale is currently described as “somewhere south of the Antarctic Circle, or wherever she says it is tomorrow.” Comments from the workers were made we on the condition of anonymity:

“We used to measure the movement of the Earth in centuries. Now we measure it in ‘Reels.’ Yesterday, she referred to the Midwest as ‘The Deep South,’ and I spent six hours dragging Indiana down to the Gulf of Mexico. My hands are permanently stained with Cerulean Blue ink, and my family doesn’t recognize me.”

“I have a PhD in Geomorphology from Oxford. My dissertation was on the geological stability of the Andes. This morning, I spent forty minutes using a Sharpie to label the North Pole as ‘The Topmost Region of Global Inequality’ because she said the cold was a tool of the patriarchy. I’m not even a scientist anymore. I’m a short-order cook for landmasses.”

“The Venezuela thing was the final straw. We had to move the entire country 600 miles south just to maintain the integrity of the news cycle. If she says the sun rises in the West tomorrow, we’re going to have to physically flip the planet over. We’ve already contacted NASA; they’re just as tired as we are.”

Official Correction: National Geographic Society

CORRECTION — Feb 20, 2026: In our previous 4,500 editions, the National Geographic Society erroneously placed Venezuela in the Northern Hemisphere based on “GPS data,” “stellar navigation,” and “the physical curvature of the Earth.”

We have since been informed that this was a result of systemic cartographic bias. As of this morning, we have successfully dragged South America 600 miles to the south using a fleet of heavy-duty tugboats and sheer collective willpower. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused to pilots, mariners, or anyone else stubbornly clinging to the outdated concept of “objective reality.”

  1. Seriously?! I understand that this is meant to be satiric, but given all the horrible threats from the Trump regime domestically and internationally, why would you focus so much on one questionable comment by AOC?! [Redacted for incivility].

  2. US citizens are pathetic when it comes to world geography and history. Schools have given up teaching them so we can spend time focusing on the correct pronouns. It also hurts to be a resident of the dominant country on the earth. You don’t need to know much about world geography or foreign languages. I’m no exception on languages. I can speak tourist class German and can read French at about the third or fourth grade level.
