Minneapolis, via Frey Campaign – Today, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz endorsed Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey for reelection.

“Mayor Frey is a partner I can trust to actually deliver progressive policies that improve people’s lives,” said Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. “Jacob has helped make Minneapolis a national leader on issues like housing, and I’ve been proud to work with him to deliver funding to hire more police officers and fight violent crime. I am proud to support Mayor Frey’s reelection so that we can continue working together to move Minneapolis into the future.”

“Governor Walz has been a champion for the values that have made Minnesota a beacon of hope and national progress,” said Mayor Jacob Frey. “On everything from affordability to public safety, no one has done more for working families than Governor Walz. I am honored to have his endorsement and grateful for his partnership in making Minneapolis a safer and more affordable city for all.”

  1. Walz understands fully what the stakes are for Mpls and the entire state, related to who becomes the next Mayor here and who holds each of our 13 seats on the City Council in 2026, 27, 28, and 29. I appreciate that Walz, people in Mpls, and all over the state, are not under estimating how disastrous it would be, for an already quite fragile city, if Mayor Frey did not stay on. So a huge thank you to Governor Walz.

This city deserves all the love and support it can get. 👏❣️👏

  2. At the CD5 central committee meeting in April, they attempted (and failed) to remove Ilhan’s provisional endorsement over madeup claims that she was endorsed non-endorsed candidates for City Council (Ward Conventions were in May, so there were literally no endorsed City Council candidates at the time they tried to remove Ilhan in April).

Now that Walz is actually going against the DFL Endorsement, will those same central committee members seek to remove his provisional endorsement, or will they be silent on this?
