Left Edge PAC Apologizes for Misinformation

In yet another example of ideology driven misinformation gone bad, left-edge PAC Minneapolis for the Many retracted their accusations and apologized to Jim Rubin and Mint Properties today.

Minneapolis for the Many has been part of a coordinated slander campaign against Rubin because of his appearance in the “Precarious State” documentary which exposed the detrimental impact of left-edge political policies on our City. They basically admitted that the accusations they have made in a series of fundraising emails were fabricated for political gain.

Email from Minneapolis for the Many:

A few weeks ago, Minneapolis for the Many made social media posts and emails describing Jim Rubin, of Mint Properties, as a “negligent” landlord and stated that he “is singlehandedly responsible for hundreds of property violations.” We retract those statements and sincerely apologize to Mr. Rubin. He has never been held negligent in his duties as a landlord by a court, nor is it fair to say he is personally responsible for every property violation found at his company’s properties. Mr. Rubin has a history of purchasing, renovating, and operating older buildings which often includes inheriting major maintenance backlogs. Mr. Rubin’s efforts to create naturally occurring affordable housing in Minneapolis are laudable and much appreciated. Minneapolis for the Many regrets the implication that Mr. Rubin could be considered a “slumlord” or “negligent landlord.”

  1. This is a significant development. Minneapolis for the Many also implied that City Council canidates (e.g., Shaffer and Millard) who received the maximum campaign donation of $600 from Rubin were tainted – they should apologize to those canidates too. Is there any backstory as to what caused them to apologize? I assume it was not a moment of moral clarity on the part of the PAC.
